DSOs face the crucial challenge of expanding the electricity grid to meet increasing demand while dealing with a significant shortage of qualified technicians. Among the innovative solutions introduced to optimise, accelerate and safeguard their work, the Dutch DSOs Enexis, Stedin, and Liander have jointly developed a compact connection module (CAM) for faster installation of small electrified objects such as charging stations and street lighting.
The CAM uses a new connection technique based on factory pre-assembling of its technical components and the presence of a convenient connection plug. As a result, the new modules are more compact and ensure the connection of objects in a safer and faster way, up to three times faster than before. Since the beginning of 2023, all Dutch grid operators have been using the CAMs for connections in public spaces, discontinuing the traditional connection method.
