The achievement of the energy transition goals requires DSOs to undertake significant grid expansion efforts and investment. As the complexity of network and investment planning grows, more robust solutions are needed. To support the evaluation of benefits for both individual investment projects and their investment portfolio, the Czech DSO ČEZ Distribuce has developed Scoring CAPEX.
The application assigns each project a score based on its impact on operational expenditure, losses and power reliability metrics and allows for the optimisation of the whole investment portfolio based on budget compliance, company targets and maximum operational expenditure reduction. The outcome is a prioritised plan of investment projects, structured into implementation years. The application, now seamlessly integrated with the other company systems, has generated annual cost savings in the order of tens of millions of Czech korunas while improving the transparency of investment planning.
