DSOs need to handle complex warehouse and logistics processes for their metering devices, entailing significant costs and human resources. In order to streamline these processes and to enable unambiguous identification of meters to minimise errors, Enea Operator initiated a study to reorganise their model of measuring devices logistics. The study recommended the substitution of previous stationary field warehouses with 19 self-service warehouses optimally locatedon the DSO’s premises.
The self-service warehouses allow for 24/7 access for field workers and do not require the presence of additional warehouse staff. Security and access control for the warehouses is guaranteed by the use of an internal authorisation application, while automated collection of data and creation of warehouse documents is supported by the use of Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. Thanks to the success of the initiative, several Polish DSO partners are currently planning to implement similar solutions in their companies.
