The global surge in connection requests for decentralised energy sources and electric vehicle chargers brings significant challenges to distribution grid planning. Anticipating these difficulties, CEZ Distribuce prompted the development of a new web application to model the impact of these new assets on the grid and support investment planning.
The system simulates the connection of new assets under various input scenarios, evaluating their impacts on the network, such as overloads and voltage limit violations, and identifying potential weak points of the distribution network. Finally, the approximate capital expenditure necessary for reinforcing these weak points is also calculated providing the basis for CEZ Distribuce’s long-term investment planning.
