E.DSO “Made in Europe” Position Paper

E.DSO supports the EU’s ambition to strengthen European industrial capacity, reduce strategic dependencies and reinforce supply chain resilience for critical electricity grid components.

In its “Made in Europe” Position Paper, E.DSO highlights the importance of designing the framework in a way that supports Europe’s industrial base while remaining compatible with the urgent need to expand and modernise electricity grid infrastructure.

The paper calls for a flexible and proportionate approach to origin requirements, with a focus on value creation in Europe across the value chain rather than rigid origin criteria. It also highlights the need for a coherent and predictable legislative framework, continued access to trusted partners integrated in European supply chains, and flexible mechanisms where European manufacturing capacity remains constrained.

E.DSO further underlines the importance of addressing additional costs linked to new requirements and of protecting contracts concluded before those requirements enter into force.

A balanced and operational approach will be essential to ensure that “Made in Europe” strengthens European resilience while preserving security of supply, affordability and the pace of grid deployment.
